Use Cases

  • Concept Visualization: Quickly create video visualizations for storyboards, film projects, or product demos. For example, generate a short clip showcasing a new product feature in action.
  • Creative Exploration: Experiment with different prompts and artistic styles to discover unique visual narratives. Generate abstract animations or surreal scenes.
  • Content Creation: Produce short video content for social media, websites, or educational purposes. Create a quick explainer video or a visually engaging social media post.
  • Synthetic Data Generation: Generate synthetic video data to train other machine learning models, particularly in areas like robotics and autonomous vehicles.
  • Accessibility: Create video content from text descriptions, offering a potential tool for individuals with visual impairments.

How it Works

Mochi 1 utilizes a 10 billion parameter diffusion model based on a novel Asymmetric Diffusion Transformer (AsymmDiT) architecture. This architecture efficiently processes text prompts and compressed video data, prioritizing visual reasoning. It employs a single T5-XXL language model for prompt encoding and features 3D attention with rotary positional embeddings. A custom video VAE compresses video data, making the model more efficient.

Pros

  • Free and open-source, allowing community development and modification.
  • Offers strong prompt adherence, resulting in videos that closely match the text input.
  • Generates realistic and fluid motion, surpassing the capabilities of many other open-source models.
  • Provides a free playground for experimentation and testing.

Cons

  • Current resolution limited to 480p.
  • Can exhibit minor distortions in scenes with extreme motion.
  • Not optimized for animated or non-photorealistic styles.
  • Maximum video duration is relatively short.

Pricing

Mochi 1 offers a free tier with limited video generation capabilities. Paid plans (Lite and Standard) offer increased video generation limits, watermark removal, commercial usage rights, and priority access to new features and models.

  • Free: Up to 4 videos every 6 hours, 30 videos monthly, watermarked.
  • Lite: $8/month, up to 8 videos every 6 hours, 80 videos monthly, no watermark, commercial use.
  • Standard: $24/month, up to 32 videos every 6 hours, 180 videos monthly, no watermark, commercial use, priority features and support.

Genmo’s Mission and Future Vision

Genmo’s long-term mission is to unlock the creative potential of artificial general intelligence by building tools that push the boundaries of what AI can achieve. Mochi 1 is part of their broader goal to develop world simulators capable of imagining anything, from realistic to impossible scenarios.

Future updates include the release of Mochi 1 HD, which will support 720p video generation and even smoother motion dynamics. Genmo also plans to introduce image-to-video capabilities, giving users more precise control over their outputs and expanding creative possibilities.
